International breakthrough for new transplantation technique – September 2008

The first lung transplantation performed outside of Sweden was performed at Wythenshaw Hospital, South Manchester, England. The team led by Nizar Yonan, Director of Transplant at UHSM, performed the first ex vivo lung assessment in September 2008.
