Chicken lungs to the rescue!

Believe it or not, the unique structure and mechanics of avian lungs make them far more efficient at gas exchange than mammalian lungs.

Not surprising therefore, at least one group in Vermont (7) are seriously proposing use of avian lungs as novel scaffolds for lung bioengineering. (Yes, it was Halloween last week!)
